I’m collecting my whole cloth quilts for Tuesday’s class at Make*Do*Mend (spaces left if you’ve been putting this one off).
We’ll be covering basting, straight-line quilt design, the tools needed to create your design, bindings, quilting basics, squaring a quilt and hand sewing to finish a binding.
Thought it would be fun to show a gallery post.
This first one I did with the Alexander Henry raindrops and Kona is still my favorite.
I love the detail of the few lines in red and the Cake Rock Beach fabric binding. So sad that fabric is gone from my stash.
I played with zig-zags next and went with my old backing stand-by, flannel. I wouldn’t say this is a favorite, but it sure was cuddly and used up some fabric I had in my stash for a long time that I didn’t see using in any other way.
When I bought my new Bernina I got free-motion raindrops stuck in my head and got it out by attempting it on a whole cloth.
This sunshine yellow Anna Maria Horner flannel makes its appearance on the back of many quilt.
I decided to return to the zig-zag that this fabric begs for.
Dark green flannel on the back pops the orange quilting.
These are the best beginner quilts. If you’ve been making quilt tops and tucking them away until you gain the skills to quilt them I encourage you to put on your walking foot, baste two fabrics together and get to work!
Or maybe I’ll see you Tuesday!
