fabrics

::Wee Projects::

It’s been over a week since we packed up from snowy Seattle and headed South.  I included some scraps of fabric and zippers to occupy my time.

Last Christmas I made Amy Butler’s Stash and Dash Bags for gifts.  These were wonderful for using up bits and pieces of fabric that I wasn’t thrilled with anymore.  However, I was never happy with the final outcome of the zippers, so I started searching for some better directions with photos.

My search led me to a few blogs, my favorite zippered pouch tutorial was by Split Yarn.  It’s thorough with clear pictures.  I added canvas to line mine and did the coordinating fabric at the top like Amy Bulter’s pattern.  The zippers turned out perfect by the way.

The Eric Carle fabric on the top was a left over from the bug blanket my mother made Roan for his 4th birthday.  The zoo fabric is I think by Kokka, and is a home decor fabric.  I would interface these next time with flannel perhaps.  The home decor fabric was a wee bit heavy backed with the canvas.

Now Roan has a pouch for his crayons on the plane home!
