::Bushfire Project::

February 17, 2009 By Katie

Tia, (aka Campfire Bag Lady) put out a call to the quilting community last week.  Donate blocks of THIS DESIGN to be made into charity quilts for those devastated by the recent bushfires in Australia.

A Bushfire Quilting Project Flickr Group has been formed that has all information if you wish to be involved.  Dust off your sewing machine and grab some scraps.

I realized later I had saved a photo of a quilt someone had bordered with these as a future project.  Now I know how to make them!

Girl Block:

and Boy:

I can see some more of these in my future.  My trial one is already in my stash for a future baby quilt.

    Aren’t these stars boss? I love them! I love the effect of a bunch of them together…they all just twinkle so nicely. Thank you so much for playing along!

    Those are so cool. I have a love/hate relationship with symmetry, and I’m liking the off-centeredness of them. Great fabric choices too.

    I love the idea of making a girl block and a boy block. Both blocks look great!

    I love the little boy block (and the girl too 😉 ) The colours really pop with the white. Great wonkiness too. I am busy making my blocks but I don’t think I made them wonky enough! Maybe I’ll make some more. They are fun to do!

    Hi, I’m here from Chara Michele. I love your blocks, esp the flower in the girl one. I’m off to explore the rest of your blog now!
