::Sunday Stash 5/Alice in Wonderland

February 22, 2009 By Katie

I bought a FQ of this Alice in Wonderland Kokka fabric with a specific idea in mind.  To use it as the cover for a portable Tic Tac Toe board.  It has the whimsical kiddie graphics that are signature to Kokka, and that wonderful linen blend.  I love the heart on Alice’s skirt.

Roan has had some interest in playing Tic-Tac-Toe lately.  We had been setting up sticks and using bottle caps.  He asked me to make a board and the wheels started turning.

I used felt for the actual board and placed magnets on both the buttons that I covered and inside the board.  Sewing the Alice and Wonderland fabric as the outside cover.  I knew I wanted simple colors and went with black and red.

If I were to make it again, I would actually skip the magnets and make a pocket for the pieces.  I see some of these as future Birthday gifts.

We’re still working on the strategy of diagnal.

    I’m in love with this fabric, and the Tic-Tac-Toe board is an awesome idea! Sometimes I wish I had kids just because there would be so many cute projects I could make. Maybe not the best reason to have kids but oh well 🙂

    Really cute! Great idea! I really like that fabric. Why do the Japanese have such neat fabrics? I have been stashing away any kind of Little Red Riding Hood fabric I can find but mostly it comes from Japan. I would like to take a trip there just to look at the fabric!
