::Nettie’s Block::

March 25, 2009 By Katie

I love the fabric Nettie from A Quilt is Nice sent.  The Denyse Schmidt posies are delightfully vintage looking, and have that handkerchief feel.  I knew I wanted a substantial amount of them as my dark.  A simple block was also the goal.  A block, that when sashed would hold its own.

I pieced it together Saturday morning, but it is only making it off in the post today.  I’ve had it up on the design wall since, dragging my heels.

Sitting at my kitchen table I would occasionally glance at it from a distance in the living room.  My brain kept flashing, “Add to it, add to it!”

Each time I would try to, I would come back full circle…it’s perfect and I really like it!

Its shape too, appealed to me.  Nettie requested we make a size of our choosing, not our standard 12.5 square.

I look forward to how it looks in Nettie’s quilt.  I believe it will stand out well when sashed.

    It’s beautiful. I always have to leave my blocks for a while after I make them. Sometimes I have to change them, sometimes they are just right, but I don’t know at first.

    Love how you framed the birds. The whole thing has a balanced look to yet and yet not so much! I like that in a block.
