::This Week::

April 24, 2009 By Katie

How can it be Thursday?

My biggest accomplishment this week?  I actually vacuumed my home from top to bottom, all 600 and some feet of it…AND cleaned the bathroom including the dreaded tub.  When I start to notice the cobwebs, you know it’s bad.  I used to be such a good housekeeper until I started sewing.

Very little sewing actually happened this week because of my growing list of neglected duties.  My Mom’s birthday is May Day, so I did whip up a little zippered pouch for her yesterday.  I’ll pop some photos in it of her Grandchild, and her 70s prescription sunglasses that I found in a coat pocket here…no, maybe I’ll do her a favor and not let her know I found those.  Believe me they have not come back in style.

My mother, who is also a quilter, and I have VERY DIFFERENT tastes in fabric, so I hope she likes it.

I also bought this pillow at the local grocery.  My original idea was to copy it and take it back, but sometimes it’s just easier to be the purchaser.  I would like to copy it sometime though.

I love the stitching.  The quality of the construction, fabric and insert is rather shocking actually.  I’m sure I don’t want to know the manufacturing ethics behind it.

It will actually live in our bedroom with these pillows.  It will go lovely with the Citron walls, or excuse me, “Cumin Spice.”

I got the pillow at a Fred Meyer. They also had it in a chocolate. I think Safeway is also owned by the same corporation.

Mind if I ask how much? BTW I have a weakness for paint chips and paint names. Farrow & Ball have the best names. i.e. ‘mouses back’ ‘dead salmon’ to name a few. I would love to be a Name-er.
Nice pillows. Shop at Ikea..they have the best priced feather pillow forms.

What a funky and cool pillow. I love the effect that stitching has. And your zippered pouch for your mom is adorable. I’m sure she will love the photos too. Kudos on the cleaning! I haven’t done that in awhile!

Know what you mean about the cleaning. There just isn’t enough time in the day especially with messy kids as well!

Very cute pillow. Love the pebble effect.

Oh, I have had a real downfall in housecleaning since sewing too. And I have the same problem with my mom and I having very different tastes in fabric.

Would it be OK to snag a pic of your values quilt when I mention your tutorial on my blog?

    Happy Friday,

    Molly

Sewing V housework is no contest, someone really ought to invent a machine where your vacuuming is powered by your sewing machine, then I really would have a tidy house at last.
Why doesn’t my local store sell such niche house comforts?? instead it chooses to parade all the stuff I would never want all under one roof. Ah well!
    Enjoy your weekend.

That pillow is amazing! I was about to be in awe over your stitching ability, but then saw that it was store-bought…I need to find some of these for my house…they are beautiful!
