::Some New Inspiration::

February 23, 2010 By Katie

I love this shape.

I’m sure it’s inspired by Cathrineholm designs, or maybe a coffee bean…  I own a few myself (Cathrineholm that is) and as a lover of Mid-Century design I am constantly keeping an affordable eye out for it.  Besides the design, the colors are great.  So I sketched out a quilt design and picked the fabric.  Now time to learn some curved technique.  I’m up for the challenge.

    I’m so excited to see your design! I too love the petal design of Cathrineholm and I love collecting it as well. Have you seen the pretty things using this pattern over at Isak? If only it weren’t so expensive!

    If your inspiration is anything to go by, this will be one stunning quilt.

    I thought coffee bean as soon as I saw it. Can’t wait to see how the quilt evolves!

    Must write you. I am such a slack cow.

    How are you going to tackle this? What great inspiration – we share the mid century love.

    If this were my challenge to take up, I might try the 6 minute circle technique. I’ve used it on ovals and I think you could do it with any round shape. You could also just fuse and sew around the edges.

      I was just looking at that book on Amazon! I would like to sew it, not applique.

    I have an orange pot that I realise from your post must be Catherineholm. How about that – I’d never thought of it as anything particularly special. Maybe I should be taking better care of it. All I do now is make sure it never goes in the dishwasher.

      I more just stare at mine, they don’t see any cooking. Orange would be lovely!
