::A Zig and a Zag::

July 3, 2010 By Katie

My family shuffled by me at 6:30 am wrapped in quilts to watch Germany and Argentina play.  We are all piled on the couch, Me=Happy.

Elio’s quilt is done.

My Mom and I tag-teamed this one for a family friend.  Our first collaborative quilt.  How fun.  I did the piecing and sewed on the binding, she quilted it and sewed down the binding while I was in KC.

And the half square triangles are still piled from Roan’s quilt.  I am so happy with both of these that I think a large zig zag is in the future for Roan.

Since I lost all control on E-bay and “won” (insert my husband saying “purchased”) all the Amy Butler flannel dot at an insane price I’ve used it here again for binding.

Storybook was another E-bay auction score that I used for the back.  Added some flannel space people to widen it.  My Mom did a stitch in the ditch zig zag that shows nicely from the  back.

Hope you like it little Elio!

Thanks! The solid is actually Carolina Chambray in natural. I should make note. Happy weekend!

Go Germany! (that’s a funny thing for a Brit to say, isn’t it? But we’re still off Argentina since the handball back in ’86)

I LOVE that quilt, I still haven’t made a zig zag, but it’s such a perfect baby quilt, isn’t it?

Have a great holiday weekend x Get those margherita’s drunk 😉

The quilt is so cute- love the triangles! Poor Argentina…I felt bad for them…actually just wanted Messi to have a World Cup goal.

Hubby woke up early and watched it but I just couldn’t drag myself out of bed at 4 am! So I watched it this morning and they all headed to the beach…waiting for them to come back to watch the Spain game.

This IS a fun quilt. I would stick with the word “won.” Husbands have such a funny vocabulary when it comes to ebay…

This one definitely came out great! I love the zigzag with such a fun variety of prints. How nice to have a partner for these big projects!

I was thinking that was a generous use of vintage a.b. Such a sweet, silly, fun quilt. My favorite part is that you did it with your mom. Life is short.

Love that zigging AND that zagging! What an interesting quilt…the patchwork INSIDE of the zigs and zags is what gets me. Great job!

What a fun quilt! There are so many cute patterns and fabrics to look at in the patchwork.

Just popping in to say hello! I was in Fabric Crush last week, and chatted up a storm with Sarah. Love your blog. And love that you’re a World Cup watcher too!
