Ahhhh…Friday again. I made my goal. In fact, I surely must be procrastinating, because I exceeded it.
I am truly grateful to have a few minutes alone in my day to run. Since generally I run in the same place daily, I was thinking today on my run what a creature of habit I am. Can you blame me with this being around the bend? Not bad for urban. Granted if you told me you would like to partner for a run and you have a route you’d prefer we take, I’m game… I’m flexible in my thinking.
So with this flexibility thing in mind, I’d like to say I’ve been incredibly humored by some individuals in a water aerobics class I attend occationally, but I can’t. They annoy me. I’ve loved this class for years and smile the whole way through, but I have got to say there are a few cranky individuals who have convinced me that the secret to staying young is not flexibility of body alone.
Sorry, but these ladies are so set in their ways. I’m talking NO flexibility of mind what so ever. Sorry, but they just seem OLD.
-Don’t be in their spot when they get in the pool. They just hover a foot from you till you move.
-Never mind they bob and float in your space…get the hell out of theirs when they decide to stay in it.
I swear they mark their pool space with pee. I don’t want to swim there anyway.
So keep this all in mind. Flexibility of mind AND body. The flexibility of mind comes in handy with quilting.
Happy Friday. Get out there and shake it up…mind AND body.
Funny! I’m getting a picture in my head of you being surrounded by angry, old ladies in swimcaps. Watch out!! They DON”T like change. Well, I don’t like change much myself but I think I could deal with a new spot in a pool.
LOVE your post…too funny!! Since retiring I have surrounded myself with wonderful, positive people!! When you work you often can’t do that…but when you can, I think it’s important to your own outlook on life to avoid the people who bring you down!!
Take care and happy jogging!!
Paulette
That is hilarious! I think my mom is the same way, kind of rigid. Curmudgeonly. And would probably pee in her space to mark it if she could. : D
Perfectly stated! I couldn’t agree with you more. Here is to staying healthy and young!
You did good this week! I’ve crashed & burned the last 2 weeks. I’m just feeling too tired to move lately. I agree. I think the secret to staying young is almost completely in attitude! Get out and seek some adventure! Who knows? It might be fun to fill a different part of the pool! 😀
Gumby had it right.
Thanks for the laugh! You are right, flexibility in ALL aspects of life is what keeps you young.
P.S. Stay away from warm spots in the pool 😉
When did you join MY water aerobics class?? Either that or they are all the same…all the same… all the same….
LOL! I think the egocentricity thing can kick in at any age – but it stands out with old people! I think flexibility in any part of our lives keeps us sane – those that aren’t don’t notice anyway…
This post made me laugh. My two daughters go to the gym and they try to get there early so they can get the RPM bikes at the back. Well the times they do this a few of the oder members glare daggers at them.
So I can certainly visualise this scenario.
I really hope this is not me in a few years time. I wonder why they are like that though.
great advice!
You’re so right! Body AND mind! Perfect!
damn…I’d be all about running, too, if I had that view!
old ladies set in their ways crack me up (and remind me never to be like them). Sorry your swim class is ruined.
