I was cleaning out the other day and ran across a stalled project made from Robert Kaufman’s Hot Couture line. I fell hard for the purple blue colorway and quickly leaped into this project with Denyse Schmidt’s quilt in mind.
This was just as I was discovering that making blocks of improvisational nature via a pattern was just too time consuming. I started to branch out and just go with the shape and technique rather than the exact design. Plus, this large print loans itself so well as a focus.
One block is missing, but a few more and this could easily be a baby quilt. I’ve been pulling these little projects to work on at the Modern Quilt Guild meetings.
I wish I had yards of this, it would make some fine pillowcases for my periwinkle bedroom.
How do you attach the blocks on top of blocks? Do you just use a zig zag stitch?
How goes the the running?
Just a log cabin style. Work your way out with the “logs.” Just went for my run. Rain AND sun.
Ah, yes, that makes sense. Thank you!
Hope you enjoyed running in the rain. Sometimes it’s so refreshing. (as long as the rain is not coming down in cold sheets, but cold rain is not likely this time of year … unless you are in Montana).
Beautiful and so fun!! I love the one print with multiple solids. So fresh!
Wow do I love that fabric! I wish you had yards and yards of it too so i could have some 🙂 Also, my room is periwinkle too, but a tad bluer than yours. My fave, especially if it is a flower that color.
Gorgeous fabrics! And your blocks are beautiful – can’t wait to see it all done – but no pressure 🙂
Hi! New commentor here. I’m glad you made the larger blocks for the patterned fabric! The pattern would have been lost if you just used the sliver inside the other blocks. Looks great!
love those fabrics and the quilt is lovely! great way to use the fabric!
ooh, i love that fabric. absolutely love it. it’ll be one lucky baby who gets that quilt.
You have such a great eye for color. Keep the beautiful work.
