I don’t quite get it, but this pillow is favorited in my Flickr stream multiple times daily. My guess is people like its crafty simplicity.
I gave these to my Mother as a gift last Christmas. The coordinating pillow is made of an Amy Butler fabric that I never gave a second glance to until I had the thought for these pillows. Perfect snowflakes. If we didn’t all already have stockings this print would have been the one.
The base is corduroy.
I cut strips of double sided adhesive to stick to the edges of the triangles (you can also buy it in rolls this way). Not covering the entire piece eliminates the stiffness adhesive can create. I did the same for the stumps. I just pinned and didn’t bother with stabilizer. A simple straight stitch and an invisible zipper…poof…gift in under an hour!
Quilted stars would be a nice touch.
The mirror ball fabric lends itself to shiny goodness. Not being a big fan of the seasonal green and red, blue suits my style.
How many weeks till Christmas?

I just added an invisible zipper pillow class to the November calendar at The Quilting Loft if your thinking of some Christmas gifts. Come and lose your fear of zippers, they really aren’t scary. You’ll be addicted.
Designing any pillow or quilt successfully requires knowledge of value. Wednesday I’m offering my last “Seeing Value” class of the year. I like to think of this class as a two for one. You’ll learn construction of half-square-triangles and learn how value impacts design using them.
These are lovely. I’m a blue/silver Christmas lover myself. Did you leave the trees with raw edges? I can’t tell from the pic.
Yeap. Edges are raw.
Oh SO really cute. And the FMF blue tiles. *sigh* (because I’m spending an inordinant amount of time/money to collect little slivers of FMF….)
That FMF does add up doesn’t it. I was able to find it at regular price in some distant shop.
Wonderful – it looks wintery and still cosy. I love how you arranged your trees on the pillow, great design!
Hi Katie! Hope you are doing well…..looks like you’ve been oh so crafty and oh so productive. Ok…I love those pillows!! I haven’t sewn much in the past year but you always make me wish I was doing something!
