::A Zig and A Zag::

A girl has gotta sew right?

I shouldn’t.

I should be writing (or maybe recovering all those pillows on my couch that don’t match), but these half square triangles left over from Roan’s quilt were calling my name.  And truthfully after stretching to be outside the box for so long with the book, something textbook seems so appealing.

I just love myself a traditional, scrappy hst quilt!

In honor of MLK go watch this, it’s a little disconnected from the day, but he believed peace could be.  In fact, watch everything on the site.  Inspiration added to your day in 20 minutes or less.

    Nothing to beat a lovely, simple quilt that lets the design and prints both breathe!

    When you said “watch everything on that site,” I thought “hmm, I’ll bet she’s talking about TED.” I haven’t seen that talk yet, so I’ll definitely check it out.

    I love that quilt SO much! i’m pretty new to quilting so sometimes I have to see something that I’d love to do really close up so that I can see how it’s done – especially when it’s stuff where the pattern shifts across the whole piece – I suppose I just need to get out some graph paper and figure it out! if it was an existing pattern please let me know where it came from – I mean I know that HS triangles aren’t “new” but I love what’s done with them on that quilt!

    1. The quilt is made using Half square triangles. One side is a print and the other a solid. There are tons of directions online for a hst block. I placed them on the design wall till I go a zig and a zag that I liked. I then cut plain fabric squares to fill in the spaces. Good luck and have fun. Let me know if you need more!
