I bought a FQ of this Alice in Wonderland Kokka fabric with a specific idea in mind, to use it as the cover for a portable Tic Tac Toe board. It has the whimsical kiddie graphics that are signature to Kokka, and that wonderful linen blend. I love the heart on Alice’s skirt.
Roan has had some interest in playing Tic-Tac-Toe lately. We had been setting up sticks and using bottle caps. He asked me to make a board and the wheels started turning.
I used felt for the actual board and placed magnets on both the buttons that I covered and inside the board. Sewing the Alice and Wonderland fabric as the outside cover. I knew I wanted simple colors and went with black and red.
If I were to make it again, I would actually skip the magnets and make a pocket for the pieces. I see some of these as future Birthday gifts or maybe another for the Kindergarten room as a teacher gift.
We’re still working on the strategy of diagnal.
I would love to find this fabric again if anyone has a hint.
I believe I saw that fabric @ Pacific Fabrics in Bellevue. They may be able to verify by phone.
This is absolutely adorable!
I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer, but I would have some concerns about the size of the game pieces….perfect for putting in the mouth and either choking on or inhaling. You could make them larger with the same size magnets in them. Otherwise, this is super!!
They’re kindergardeners…I would hope they are beyond the toliet tube by now.
Super cute!
I LOVE this idea. The fabric is sensational and I love the colors. SO creative!
That is agreat idea! Love it!
How clever! I can imagine this as a perfect car game for summer vacations.
