::Quilt and Bound::

November 17, 2011 By Katie

I managed to finish quilting two quilts this week.

Leftovers is traditional in design and quilting.  The only modern flare really is the fabric.

I’m hooked on the orange peel for the charm squares and have a grey, cream and white one like this in my head already.

I’ve thought about adding an extra loop to the peels or going on the diagonal next time I do a baby size quilt.  Something more manageable than this twin.

So now I’m onto binding options.

The backing has a hit of green in some of the butterfly wings that I thought I would emphasize.  The backing is perhaps one of my favorite fabrics ever.

I’m leaning toward this Katy Jump Rope print even though there isn’t any of it in the quilt.  Not sure how I missed that.

    Beautiful. I love orange peel quilts but don’t have the patience for applique. Your quilting design may be the answer to that.

    my first thought was the katie jump rope print. i don’t think it matters that it isn’t in the quilt – it will still look fantastic!

    Your quilts are really beautiful, a perfect way to show off the fabrics. I love how you quilted them. I need to try that out!

    Dang it Katie you are making me rethin my “ugly” quilt. I just love your stitching. That is a pretty big quilt! What kind of machine do you sew on that has enough room for a quilt of that size?

    Sooo pretty, and love the green background. Maybe the orange for the binding for some zing? (mind you, you may not want to take colour advice from a woman that’s just made a bear in bright construction zone orange, and bright purple ;o) )

    Love it! It’s gorgeous! And your FMQ’ing is flawless. How long did it take you to master it like you have? I just never seem to improve so I send most everything out unfortunately.

Then we put the bedroom back together and I’m loving the new color with the colors in the hall and bath. The snow has been such a delightful balance of inside and outside time all weekend. More walking to enjoy the snow before the rain starts.
