::Almost Done::

May 1, 2012 By Katie

A HUGE thanks to all friends, family, blog followers, students, fabric whores collectors and excited quilters that popped into the Quilting Loft for the book signing.  It made my day and I was one happy camper.  It wasn’t till I sat down for dinner that I realized I hadn’t eaten anything all day.

I’ll get some photos collected from my friends for a future post of the fun day.

Now onto the final push to finish last-minute things before my Island Quilter exhibit reception on Friday!  I finished off the quilting on Psychedelic Baby this afternoon before I went to work.  I really wanted this quilt in the exhibit.

As always, I quilt faster in my head than in real life, so I had to set aside a few ambitious quilts and suppress those ‘I want to start a new quilt’ feelings.

Psychedelic Baby only needs a binding.

I’m thinking the red.

Whatcha think?

I feel a new class coming on.

    I love it! I’ve had a stitch-n-flip quilt in mind for awhile, and after reading your book I think it’s going to be a medallion style. Although that could always change by the time I cute the fabric!

    The red is lovely and it works. I’d almost be tempted, though, to use the blue so that the eye stays moving on the fractured centre of the quilt and not pulled out to the edges.

    It’ll be beautiful no matter what. I really love this one.

    Oh man I love this quilt! Can’t wait until it’s done so I can pin it for later inspiration! I love the red but I also think the deep lilac could give a nice calming effect (same idea as citricsugar up there). So your question is – spice it up or cool it down? 🙂

    your quilt totally brought back a memory for me. when i was little every summer we’d visit my grandparents. they had an old mac with kidpix on it that we were allowed to play with. {pretty big news for three kids that weren’t allowed to watch tv} i would lay down a background of bright colors and then use one of the tools to slice and dice it creating an end product similar in style to your quilt.

    so much fun! {and red totally works for the binding!}

    katie. i love this. so beautiful. how in the world do you quilt and not have puckers all over the place? do you spray baste? do you pin? do you do both? p.s. i LOVE the red.

      I have an awesome Bernina which takes care of most of that problem and then I have OCBD or obsessive compulsive basting disorder.
