Besides multiple venues to buy fabric now in Seattle, there is exciting news for sewers looking for space to get their sew on, meet inspiring people and learn new skills.
I swung by to see Keli at Drygoods Design in Ballard. While I was there I took a tour of what will be her new sewing studio! That’s right Seattle, Make*Do*Mend at Drygoods will open in December. The opening will include artwork by my friend Blair of Wisecraft and coincides with Ballard’s first Saturday art walk on December 8th.
Keli and I will be placing some classes on the books by the beginning of the week! I’m so freaking excited to have another awesome venue to teach in. But wait, there’s more…
In addition Keli will be partnering with Bernina NW for machines. Bernina NW’s owner Glorianne and her wonderful people have long supported the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild and me. I noticed this morning that they are running a special on a sewing 101 class as well as their Bernina 12 machine through Living Social. If you’ve had your eyes on a quality entry-level machine, then this is your chance!
Of course in celebration I picked up a few yards of fabric. My stash goal is to only add small scale, tone on tone and solid fabrics so that I can start using up all these other fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The wee Storybook flowers and coordinating curvy lines fabric are both perfect stash additions that fit into the perimeters of my goal. I’ve been eyeing Lizzy House’s Jewel in all colors and have plans to stash all Pearl Bracelet colors as they become available.
I also picked up this zig zag flannel for my Whole Cloth Quilt class that starts this Thursday. It said “woodland” to me, so I searched through the stash. I seem to have fallin’ for the owl phenomenon that happened in fabric design over the past few years and think they will pair well as a front and back. Thank God for squirrels, fox and hedgehogs are coming around…I think.
WOW, this is a wordy post for me. Back later with more photos and fewer words because this quilt is in the dryer.
OOh, How exciting! Another new venue!!!!!
Such exciting stuff…I want to move to Seattle! I just bought that spirals panto at the Houston quilt show….I can’t wait to use it!

It’s awesome!
WOW! Great fabrics, and what are the prices per yard? Thank you for sharing. Best, Mtetar
What’s that light blue one between the two Lizzy House prints? I’ve been wanting to use that quilting design, it would be nice to cheat the first time with some lines to follow. Thanks!!
And congrats on the new space…wish I could join the fun from the other Washington.
It is a fabric from the storybook line too: http://drygoodsdesignonline.com/products/storybook-lane-curvy-stripe-turquoise
