::Staying Busy::

December 6, 2012 By Katie

Thanks everyone for your kind words.  I’ve always felt odd working my way through the routine of the day when I know others are dealing with sorrow I’ve never experienced.

My way of dealing with just about anything good or bad is to stay busy.

sewkatiedid/scrappy double trouble

So today, since Scrappy Double Trouble is a quilt top, I am hoping to baste it.  I doubt I’ll be focused enough to quilt it, but it is a class sample that needs to get done.

It certainly went a different direction from the original.

sewkatiedid/scrappy double troubleWhat you can do with this block that merges improvisational stitch and flip triangles and traditional half square triangles that we teach in Quilting Modern is endless.

I think I like the idea of the original medallion the best, but went with the triple.

I’ve also got a triangle class to prepare for tonight.

I’ve got all my Mendocino cut up and now somewhat regret it.  I went to large with the triangles and just am not a fan of one fabric line all together even though I see it in other people’s quilts and like it.  I’m going to spend some time today digging through stash to add some interest.

On happy note, my family being spoiled brats got to go to our first of the year Christmas party at Seahawk stadium Tuesday night.  This has been tradition for many years, but this is likely our last, so it was extra special.

May your Thursday be productive.

    Both of these quilts are gorgeous! And I love the snow!!! I’m guessing that it’s a wordpress thing (I’m on blogger) but if not I’d love to know how you did that.

    How come I want to make every single quilt you make ?
    All the layouts are pretty and I agree with you, I have a hard time using only one collection in quilt.. there’s something about that scrappy look that I can’t get enough of 🙂

    The scrappy factor, with the added pop of white, just makes this quilt happen! Love it. And I agree: staying busy allows time to soothe sorrows.
