::Collecting Alexander Henry::

Do you ever buy fabric with nothing in mind?

sewkatiedidJust kidding.

Quilt Sandwich makes it hard for me to resist with their stock of Alexander Henry.  Even though I need ZERO fabric, they make me feel like I’m running out.

I’ve collected a pile of the previous Ghastlies lines and ever since market have been waiting for Ghastlie Holiday to come out.

sewkatiedid/invisible zipper tutorialPillows have already been made as samples for my invisible zipper class and the sage color will go onto my my holiday couch to replace some Halloween Ghastlies pillows.

Maybe a holiday A-Line skirt?

sewkatiedidThis jeweled web will be the backside of napkins as soon as I purchase the coordinate with the little costumed kids holding hands in a row.

sewkatiedidsewkatiedidThe detail in Aoi Has Two Sisters is what you expect from Alexander Henry.  Each dress is made of a fabulous print itself.  Even the flowers feature different prints.

I’ve already made some napkins for a friend and myself.

Napkins and pillows apparently give me a good excuse to buy fabric.

Happy Sunday!  Now go sew.

Oh please! A.Henry and R. Kaufman. Two fabric designers I need no reason to purchase other than to collect every scrap of what they make. I go in saying “shut up and take my money!”

Good to know I’m not the only one randomly gathering Ghastlies!

I could make a big tent for my house with mine.

Thanks for the tip about Quilt Sandwich. My daughter asked for new sofa pillows in gray, orange and gold. I got a lot of good fabric

I love this! And yes, I collect (read: hoard) fabric and yarn and other sewing supplies!

As long as there are no dead cats it isn’t officially hoarding.

I love Alexander Henry fabrics but I always have trouble using them (can’t bear to cut them up).

    1. sewkatiedid says:

Pillows and napkins or some thrown into value quilts are my go-to.

  8. svetlana says:

wow, these are the best looking, most fun napkins ever!!!

  9. These fabrics are beautiful!

Such great fabrics where you are. Harder to get and twice the price here in Australia! Have to buy from the internet and pay postage. Still works out a bit cheaper this way:) I’m a new quilter and don’t spend money on anything anymore as I’m always saving it for fabric. Then I give all the quilts away!:) Love reading your blog and have your awesome book. 🙂

    1. sewkatiedid says:

Thanks Laurelle! I’ve heard that about fabric. You’ll have to come visit and fill your suitcase!

That’s exactly what I keep telling my Husband! He just rolls his eyes. Will get there one day. Five kids are old enough to leave to fend for themselves now so have started taking short trips here and there. Need one to move out so I can have a sewing room first. Love your work. Thanks for sharing.

        1. sewkatiedid says:

Oh, think of all the room you’ll have!

I haven’t been buying much lately ~ really attempting to use what I’ve got ~ which is a lot (but not as much as some people I know). I’m working on a Pickle Dish and even tho I’m using up some fabric ~ there’s still lots and lots of it!
Love the pillows and that girl in the rabbit mask and hammer in her hands.

    1. sewkatiedid says:

It seems like when you use some up, you just make more scraps. I love pickle dish quilts!

  12. An A-line skirt in that fabric would be fantastic! A little jealous I’m going to add….

    1. sewkatiedid says:

I’ve got to get going on it.

      1. post a pic when you do make it.

        1. sewkatiedid says:

  13. I do the same thing, more often than I probably should. I can’t wait to see what you make. The jeweled web is fantastic.

  14. Gee, wish I was close enough to take one of your classes but I’m about as far as I can get – southwest Florida. I bought your Modern Quilts book so that will have to do for now. I, too, have loads of Alexander Henry & never thought of napkins & pillows. Thx
