::Get Your Quilt On::

April 28, 2014 By Katie

livudio

I set up my sewing in the living room (photo above) and texted it to Jefe.  He responded immediately that he better get going with painting my temporary studio before I sprouted roots for another Livudio.  The big window sure was hard to leave behind!

It was a strategic move and now I’m sewing in my own room!  I’ll get some pictures up once I get a light or two.  It’s so awesome to have all my fabric in the same room and figure out the best storage.  Loads of stuff wandered into the basement for now to keep the distracting clutter down.  I don’t need any help being distracted.

What I did pull out were tons of unfinished projects.  So that’s my current push.  Here’s what I’ve got.

sewkatiedid/double-trouble scrap

Today these double-trouble blocks are coming together as another sample for my Walla Walla workshop this weekend.  Though I wanted to start something new the hst blocks were already there and should be used.

sewkatiedid/Psychedelic Baby Quilt

Psychedelic Baby just needs some sashing to enlarge, I’ve already envisioned the quilting.

Sewkatiedid/Somewhat Circular Quilt

Somewhat Circular needs a few more rows sewn and its end triangles added.  The quilting will need some thought.

Sew Katie Did/Half Square Star

Embarrassed to admit how long this has sat.

Sewkatiedid/Four Square Magic Number Quilt

Another sample for my Magic Number Class just needs some quilting.

sewkatiedid/snowballed star

I’m not sure on the layout or quilting for this simple snowballed star, but I love the colors.  So happy.sewkatiedid/no name star

I must be seeing stars, here’s another unfinished that was to be in The Seattle Modern Quilt Guild’s Binary Quilt Show, obviously it didn’t make it.

sewkatiedid/boxed

Need to make some decisions on finishing this as another sample for my Psychedelic Baby Block class.

I’m thinking of more unfinished projects even as I write this that I didn’t picture and I have one more box left in the studio that I wrote ‘studio/projects’ on.  I decided not to open it;)

Anyone out there rivalling me on unfinished projects?

Ready, set, go!

I’m happy for you to have your very own space. You will just love it!!! I’m also happy to know I’m in such good company with UFO’s as I have a box full of tops.

At least it isn’t one of those misery loves company situations eh?!

I recently made the mistake of counting all my WIPs, during a particularly boring meeting at work – 24! Some are still in cutting, only a few pieces sewn. Some are full quilt tops needing quilting. 2 just need binding! I might be addicted to “new, new, new”. 😀 Maybe cleaning will make me want to finish these…..

I was really jealous there for a minute until I realized the picture isn’t your studio 🙂 But I think I’m still a little jealous of the view from your living room. We’re moving soon and I will finally have my own studio space, Looking forward to that but not all the time it will take to get everything organized just right.

The big difference here is that I Love all yours! LOL I have more quilt tops than I will admit and Im waiting for that larger machine to finish the quilting part. Meantime, I have used them as table toppers’ I just put a large clear vinyl covering over them. Works great!

I know the feeling. I have a few unfinished quilts but other things kept getting in the way. You are so lucky to even have a room. My sewing area is in a large hallway with poor lighting. I move into the dining room and lounge when the need be – Hubby is relegated to the shed. 😀

My space isn’t much bigger than a hallway, but it’s mine all mine!

Having a small home means that storage is at a premium so I have to take projects thru to completion-at least the majority of them. Then I can fold and stack them on the shelf in the bedroom, hoping to use the majority as gifts…

I just moved from the smallest home ever. I must be good at storage;)

I only have 3 quilt UFOs, but let’s not talk about the dressmaking, knitting and crocheting ones!
I love the moving in process, whether to a whole new house or just a studio. And saving that last box is a great idea. Open it on a day when you need inspiration. And share it with us!
I love your psychedelic baby, that is super cool. You’ve given me lots of ideas today!

No, I can’t say that I rival you on “unfinished projects” but I can say, that I feel a whole lot better about my unfinished projects after seeing yours! LOL They are all beautiful and someday will have a home they can be cherished in.

I’m in the 30s… Not age, but in WIPs. Oh wait, still in age too. Maybe I should make the numbers match?
