The deadline for entering quilts for the Bainbridge Quilt Festival is this Friday the 15th (entry form here).
Have you picked a quilt out yet? This is a fun, non-juried show and no sleeve required!
I decided since one of my favorite quilts ever is Grape Crush (aka Seam Ripper IPA), that I’d submit it to the festival.
My text with Sandie about it went like this.
I’m joking about the show quality. We had a struggle with gremlins in her machine and bird nests of thread would appear at the back every time we hit the shot cotton. Her hubby John would refill our pints and I’d crawl under the machine to rip it out. Thus Seam Ripper IPA it is.
This is the stuff that memories are made of folks.
I traveled with friends yesterday to Pink Chalk Fabrics to spend the day with our Bainbridge Island Modern Quilt Guild friends and they are pretty excited about the festival.
I’ll be teaching Improvisational Elongated Triangles at the festival on Friday, September 12th. I’m looking forward to volunteering on Saturday as well.
It was fun to spend time in the courtyard talking to people about quilts last year. If you can’t submit a quilt consider donating your time. But I hope I get to see your work.
If you are a Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild member I just booked my flight for October!

I am so hopeful that I can attend the kc modern quilt guild in oct. Any idea of what you might be speaking about or demonstrating?

Hi Michelle,
I’ll do a trunk show and two workshops. Friday will be my double-trouble block and Saturday will be crazy-piecing.

Sounds like that quilt tried the patience of both of you. I hate when I’ve been happily sewing along and then find a line of snarls underneath. But your quilt turned out well. Good luck at the quilt show. I scribed for a judge at our last show and it was so interesting to hear what they looked for.

The finished quilt is worth crawling under it to rip out stitches!

Love the story of the name. I’ve had quilts like that!

At least you had pints to help make it a *little* more bearable! haha I love the name, and the quilt is cool, too. This makes me think of my new wine & fabric pairing posts. I like Deb’s idea of “Rippin Riesling” haha!
