A modern quilt block that is really no trouble at all!
Double-Trouble is a fun quilt block and design workshop that merges a traditional half-square triangle block with an improvisational stitch and flip triangle technique. We’lll explore and inspire each other on the design walls with the unlimited controlled and chaotic quilt design potential this block has to offer. Â One block = endless designs!
Katie will have multiple examples made with prints and solids to show for inspiration.
Only a full payment secures your space in a class and/or open studio. Payments are non-refundable. Please note: Students who cancel 72 hours or more prior to a class may transfer 100% of payment funds to the next available session or to another class/open studio. We will make every effort to accommodate a reschedule of this nature.
No refund or exchange will be given for late cancellations (71 hours or less) or no shows. Sorry, we are not able to make exceptions. This ensures that other students on a waiting list for spots in full classes have not missed an opportunity.

Sewists comfy with a machine and some sewing skills under their belt are welcome to tackle this project. Â Supply list to be emailed after sign up. Â A great workshop for making use of those orphaned quilt blocks and/or projects.
Quilt As You Go Bins- Beginning Sewing | Open Studio Project

Quilt As You Go is a fun technique to get comfy with a machine. Â Learn the basics of cut, sew, and press while creating a useful bin. Â Use the studio's scraps or your own stash to make one or two. Â Take this technique home and apply it to making pouches, potholders, drawstring bags, pillows and other quilted gifts.
Scraps are free, but a basic supply list will be emailed or purchase a studio kit to finish the bins for $10.
Oven Mitts & Napkins | Open Studio Project

It's gift making season! Â This workshop combines basic sewing techniques with a little straight line quilting. Â We'll create two quilted oven mitts & a set of double sided napkins.

Coin Quilt | Anytime Workshop | Beginning Improvisational Quilting
Improvisational quilt design doesn’t have to be complicated, especially if you know some simple techniques.
We'll master improvisational techniques like strip and angle piecing to help you quickly create and design a unique modern quilt top loosely based on a traditional coin quilt design.
Constructing a quilt to your perfect size will be covered.
This is a one session workshop. Â Schedule additional Open Studios to finish your quilt top as needed or to cover quilting, backing and binding. Â
All levels of sewists welcome.
Beginning Paper Piecing | Improv & Isosceles Triangles | Anytime Workshop
In this block workshop we’ll explore and practice the technique of piecing quilt blocks on paper. Pick wonky or isosceles triangles. Learn all the tips and tricks to their construction.  Beginner and advanced sewists will be delighted with the precise results this technique is known for.  Those sharp triangles and miniature pieces are easily a stitch line away.
Let’s manage all those beloved scraps or pick anew and train your eye to better see how color value and its placement affects quilt design as we create our own unique blocks.

Perfecting Quilt Bindings Workshop
Ready to bind a quilt, but feeling a little intimidated? Â Or maybe you're wanting to add some piecing, faux binding or flange and need some hand holding?
I've got all sorts of tips and tricks to make it an easy and enjoyable step in your quilt making process. Â We'll cover creating our binding strips using a technique that eliminates drawing lines or pinning. Â We'll machine sew it on, again without pinning while creating corners to be proud of. Â We'll perfect an invisible or chunky stitch to finish sewing the binding down to your quilt's back. Â You'll have an enjoyable excuse to sit on the couch and binge watch favorite tv shows.
**Binding on the bias will not be covered in this workshop.  Please contact the studio to schedule if wanting to learn this binding technique**
