Perfecting Quilt Bindings Workshop

Ready to bind a quilt, but feeling a little intimidated?  Or maybe you're wanting to add some piecing, faux binding or flange and need some hand holding?

I've got all sorts of tips and tricks to make it an easy and enjoyable step in your quilt making process.  We'll cover creating our binding strips using a technique that eliminates drawing lines or pinning.  We'll machine sew it on, again without pinning while creating corners to be proud of.  We'll perfect an invisible or chunky stitch to finish sewing the binding down to your quilt's back.  You'll have an enjoyable excuse to sit on the couch and binge watch favorite tv shows.

**Binding on the bias will not be covered in this workshop.  Please contact the studio to schedule if wanting to learn this binding technique**

Kids’ Stitched Open Studio

Price range: $42.00 through $252.00
Full weekend days are available and summer camp dates.  Please inquire for availability (sewkatiedid@gmail.com). Kids Stitched Open Studios is full of inspiring sewing and quilting projects sure to unleash creative potential and develop curious minds.   My studio is stocked with all the tools and machines needed, plus loads of scrap material. We'll build self confidence, support creative problem solving and bring math concepts to life through active and fun project based learning while encouraging students to follow THEIR creative muse.  Project direction, multiple approaches, inspiration included.   Kids Stitched Open Studios are a great opportunity to discover various techniques for sewing, quilting, crafting, and art at a student’s individual speed through bags, zip pouches, pillows, doll quilts, pet bow ties, a variety of containers, or whatever they can dream up.  Our open studios are limited to 3 to 4 children, so that each child gets the individual instruction as needed.  Homeschooler days available for groups of 3 to 4.  Please contact the studio to schedule. We'll get those fun ideas stuck in their heads out and make them into loved objects!
  • 7 year olds and up welcome
  • No sewing machine experience required.
  • Feel free to bring a snack and a drink bottle with lid.
Be sure to read our cancellation policy prior to scheduling.  If this is your child's first session in the studio we will play with scraps to get a feel for the machines.   After this first session projects will be created and materials invoiced.  Please let me know if you have questions about this prior to a session.  Students are always welcome to bring their own materials.  There are NO refunds for single full day, 4 day or week long camps.  Kids camps will be mostly sewing, but we'll do a mix of activities to get up and moving as well.
