::Sister Quilt::

April 6, 2011 By Katie

This value quilt will go home with niece Ella to Northern Ireland after we all meet up for vacation in California.  It has been hanging for ages as a class sample and not till I had it on the design wall at home did I discover I had a whole row off by one.  Whoops.  It has so many medium valued squares it was hard to tell.

I never thought I would say this, but after working on this, new shop samples and nephew Ethan’s quilt I’m a little burnt out on half square triangles.  But with all the output of energy for the book my creative energy is low and I’m on a cross it off the list marathon for what is around here unfinished.

There are some great fabrics from my stash in this one.  Some pretty old now.

I quilted in a diagonal random cross hatch, seen better from the back.

I’m hoping the backing will be the ‘older girl’ fabric.  I’m so thrilled I scored it.  The back is the same simple design as Ella’s brother’s quilt.

I’m smitten with the Alexander Henry Heath in quilting weight.  I used it for the binding and to connect the back.

I’ll have to get a photo of both quilts together when I am in sunny California, not mossy Washington.

I have two small value quilt shop samples to do and a Value Class to teach tonight and then I think I’m done with Half Square Triangles for awhile.

Here’s a rerun of Ethan’s Quilt.

and the back.

Happy Wednesday!

Well I thought Amazon Surf was a stupid paint name Well I thought Amazon Surf was a stupid paint name and it turns out it’s because it’s not its name. We’re sleeping in the Aussie Surf;) you can see it is Boss approved. I love it with the other colors and I didn’t go purple, but that hallway sure would look good with some light apricot:) #benjaminmoore #aussiesurf
Happy ❤️ day peeps! Boss and I took a long qui Happy ❤️ day peeps! Boss and I took a long quiet walk early this morning in Fauntleroy Park, followed by Nutella banana bread and naps. Then we put the bedroom back together and I’m loving the new color with the colors in the hall and bath. The snow has been such a delightful balance of inside and outside time all weekend. More walking to enjoy the snow before the rain starts.
Snow day loveliness with a second coat of Amazon S Snow day loveliness with a second coat of Amazon Surf in the bedroom (and Boss’s nose), which is thankfully love at first sight. Multiple Boss walks and naps, and a lovely brunch. I’d love to move away from using plastic wrap on pudding to avoid the skin and went with TJ’s waxed cloth after it had cooled a bit but it left a bad flavor on the top. Any suggestions?
We discovered last month that losing electricity i We discovered last month that losing electricity is the new snow day, but we’ll still take the snow! Happy early GALentines friends ❤️.

Plus we get to say lines from My Big Fat Greek Wedding every time we slice into one. This bundt is plain ole pound cake from Casella’s A World of Baking, my fav with a cuppa coffee. #bundtcake #nordicware #valentinesbaking
